THE REMMEN FOUNDATION ART PRIZE

2016

Each year the Remmen Foundation Art Prize is awarded to a young promising full-time Danish artist.

This year’s winner was Martin Aagaard Hansen, who on August 31 received the prize of DKK 100.000 during an event at Hotel d’Angleterre in Copenhagen in connection with the Copenhagen Art Week.

Martin Aagaard Hansen graduated in 2015 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and he received the prize for his painting activities as described during the ceremony by artist Niels Erik Gjerdevik, a member of the prize committee.

Martin Aagaard Hansen was nominated for this prize together with four other young Danish artists: Julie Stavad, Kristian Touborg, Asger Dybvad Hansen and Kaare Sebastian Golles. The Remmen Foundation would like to congratulate not only Martin Aagaard Hansen but the other nominated artists as well.

The Remmen Foundation is proud that so many young and talented artists are active in Denmark, and the foundation hopes with this art prize that even more artists will be seen and heard.

The Prize Committee in 2016 consisted of Mette Remmen Kristiansen, Arne Wulff, Jens-Peter Brask, Niels-Erik Gjerdevik og Lars Seier. The committee nominates the candidates and chooses the winner of the year. (For information, it is not possible to apply for the Remmen Foundation Art Prize).

The Remmen Foundation Art Prize was awarded for the first time in 2015 to Morten Knudsen.
